You May Not Need Rent to Own

Some people begin searching for rent-to-own homes because they assume a traditional mortgage is out of reach. That isn't always the case.

Depending on your income, savings, military eligibility, location, credit history, and other circumstances, there may be mortgage programs or homebuyer tools worth exploring first.

Lansing Rent to Own is not a mortgage lender and does not determine mortgage or program eligibility.

Lower-Down-Payment Paths to Homeownership

Buying with traditional financing does not always require a large conventional down payment. Several federal and Michigan programs may make homeownership more accessible for eligible buyers.

Program details change. Availability, limits, and eligibility requirements can change. Use the official program links below to confirm current requirements.

The Mortgage Isn't the Only Tool

First-time and other eligible homebuyers may also have tools to help with upfront costs or saving toward a purchase.

Using IRA Funds for a First Home

Federal tax rules currently provide an exception to the normal additional early-distribution tax for up to a $10,000 lifetime amount of qualifying IRA distributions used for an eligible first home. Account type, tax treatment, timing, and eligibility rules matter. Seek qualified tax advice.
